Department of Performing Arts

Educational Objectives

The Department of Performing Arts at Chungkang College of Cultural Industries offers a four-year bachelor’s degree through an advanced major program. Students who have completed their respective three-year majors engage in a production-centered curriculum, where they create works by thinking and communicating from a contemporary perspective.

In particular, the advanced major program was restructured in 2022 to emphasize a production-based curriculum that connects education with the arts field. Rather than simply learning each sub-major separately, all classes are designed to organically integrate various elements—such as contemporary performance studies, experimental performance workshops, creative project seminars, and skills development—through a unified approach. Students learn the process of refining their work while researching performance forms and acquiring artistic skills, ultimately learning how to bring their work to life on stage.

Additionally, through the CK Platform, which began in 2021, students preparing to enter the professional field immediately after graduation are supported in their growth as emerging artists. From the early stages of concept development to preparation, they are encouraged to “connect” with audiences. For about one month, they present their work in a theater setting and meet general audiences. The created works are then further revised and developed, with continued support provided so they can be selected as commercial productions.
The Department of Performing Arts at Chungkang College does not simply focus on studying a major; it provides practical, production-centered education that enables graduates to step directly into the professional arts field.

Ideal Talent Profile

The Department of Performing Arts fosters a creative community where students discuss and create performances from a contemporary perspective. By continuously questioning the stories of our time and going through the process of finding their own answers, students develop their thinking. Through the medium of performance, they learn to communicate with the world, nurturing artists who can express and share ideas with society.
