[CK Global Supporters] 학생기자단 Student Reporter CK Culture Experience (청강문화체험)
In Chungkang, we have classes curated specifically for foreign students. The one I am about to introduce is called “CK Culture Experience.”
It is a five-week course designed to allow international students to experience different cultural aspects of Korea for the first time.
The class is structured around field trips to various places. Upon arriving, everyone is tasked with observing their surroundings, taking in the atmosphere as a whole, taking pictures, drawing, talking to each other, and simply being present in the moment.
The introductory class is held on campus so that first-time arrivals can get to know the campus and become familiar with its layout. In the first semester of 2026, students visited four different locations in Seoul.
🚩 01 | Seoul Botanic Park (서울식물원) https://share.google/qxqa4UH2K6sK8nZcJ
For the first field trip, Seoul Botanic Park was chosen. The objective of the drawing practice was to create a piece using masking tape. It did not have to be realistic or even resemble a particular plant, but it had to convey the feeling the place gave you.
🚩 02 | Changuimun Gate (창의문)
The second location was Changuimun, also known as the Northwest Gate of Seoul. It is one of the Eight Gates of Seoul in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, which surrounded the city during the Joseon period. Even though the weather was quite gloomy, it did not prevent students from having a great time.
🚩 03 | The National Museum of Korea (국립중앙박물관) https://www.museum.go.kr/MUSEUM/main/index.do
The following week, a visit to the National Museum of Korea was prepared. While walking around the museum, students were tasked with finding interesting exhibits and transforming them into something even more interesting on paper.
🚩 04 | Samcheong-dong (삼청동)
The last cultural experience began with a visit to Professor Kim Sangdong’s and artist Eeso’s personal gallery exhibition. The professor explained the ideas and emotions behind his artworks and asked students, while exploring the nearby area, to draw or write down the feelings they experienced.
Overall, the experience was extremely pleasant and exciting. Being able to learn, observe, and practice one’s skills while also visiting new and fascinating places is a wonderful opportunity, especially for those who have just arrived in Korea and have not yet had the chance to fully experience the culture. In the end, every experience we gain is unique. So take it—don’t let it pass you by.
Only one, only the best.
